He was married to the iconic actress Nargis, with whom he had three children, including actor Sanjay Dutt. Dutt was also known for his philanthropic work. He founded the Nargis Dutt Foundation in memory of his wife, Nargis, who died of cancer in 1981 due to pancreatic cancer. The foundation provides financial and medical assistance to cancer patients in India.

Sunil Dutt Career –
Dutt started his career in the film industry in the early 1950s, after being discovered by the well-known film director, Ramesh Saigal. He made his debut in the film “Railway Platform” in 1955, which was a hit and established him as an actor in the industry. Dutt went on to act in numerous successful films, including “Mother India” (1957), “Sujata” (1959), and “Padosan” (1967).
Sunil Dutt went on to act in over 100 films in his career, spanning more than three decades. He won critical acclaim for his roles in films like “Mujhe Jeene Do,” “Waqt,” “Gumraah,” “Padosan,” and “Reshma Aur Shera.” He also ventured into production and directed films like “Yeh Rastey Hain Pyar Ke,” and “Rocky,” which launched his son Sanjay Dutt’s acting career. He was also honoured by the Padma Shri in 1968 by the Indian Government.
Apart from acting, Dutt was also actively involved in social and political issues. He joined the Indian National Congress party in the 1984s and was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1984. During his tenure as a Member of Parliament, Dutt focused on improving the lives of the people in his constituency and advocated for the rights of the underprivileged.
In 1993, Dutt suffered a personal tragedy when his son, Sanjay Dutt, was arrested for possessing illegal weapons. Sunil Dutt stood by his son throughout the ordeal, and the two remained close until Sunil’s death.
